Whatcom Falls, Washington

Week 8 of HDR photo project… The 2 Shannons and I decided to do some shopping in Bellingham, and obviously, geocaching. So Shannon started planning the geocaching route, and I started looking around Bellingham to see if there were any places where I could take an HDR picture while caching. The result, Whatcom Falls Park.

It always amazes me seeing waterfalls and hearing the amount of noise these things make. As we kept walking around, there was another waterfall and a bunch of places where you can walk up to the water. It was pretty awesome, so I had no choice but to take more HDR pics. I also needed some backup pictures in case the first HDR picture didn’t work.

Week 7 Of HDR Project

Wow, almost didn’t make it for the HDR project deadline. Cutting it close…

It feels like I’m running out of places to go already! It’s almost getting stressful trying to figure out where I’m going to shoot next because I want all my HDR pictures to be different, and it’s hard to have an eye for it. I think when I start getting more time on my hands, I’ll be able to come up with different places easier. So far I think it’s been a real positive experience for me – forcing myself to bring my camera around and look at things in a different perspective. At first I went up this hill that overlooked Gonzales Bay area. I took a bunch of pictures, but I had a feeling it was going to fail miserably, so I thought to myself I needed a backup place. As I was looking around the area, I saw the roof of Craigdarroch Castle…. So off I go. I took some pictures of the castle at different angles, but for some reason the other ones were a complete failure. I still can’t figure out what would make a good HDR picture. It’s still a hit or miss for me. But I’m learning something new every time – checking out other people’s work, different editing techniques, etc…. I like to think I’m getting better at this every time :)

Sombrio Beach

Mollie, John, and I decided to go hiking on the Juan de Fuca trail. We only did a few kilometers of it, but it was SO much fun – good company, muddy trails (thank you boots, you did good!), crossing streams, suspension bridges, climbing up and down places with rope, beaches, and the list goes on and on and on. We’re so spoiled to be living on the Westcoast that’s for sure. The weather was perfect too – overcast and not too cold. All in all, it was such an amazing day! I didn’t take a whole lot of pictures because most of the time I was making sure I didn’t bail… Hahah. This is just a taste of what’s to come. SO stoked for the summer!!

So I’ll leave you all with this HDR pic I attempted… Anything with a waterfall is cool :)

Random Pieces Here And There…

I’ve been taking a few pictures here and there, but never have enough for a full post. So I’ve decided to just wait until I have a decent amount of pictures before posting. So I guess here they are:

When I went to Beacon Hill Park one day, I went to the petting zoo. When I walked up to the peacock, he opened up his feathers! It was absolutely beautiful

Went to Patricia Bay to do some shooting as well. I really like it when clouds do cool things. I also enjoy shooting pictures with my Sigma 10-20mm. I LOVE to play around with space :)

The next pic is a mural I’ve driven past a bunch of times. I keep telling myself I need to take a picture of it… After a few weeks, I’ve decided it was time. I really like the artwork and the style

The last few pics were taken from today. I’ve noticed for a while now that there’s this ring around the sun. But today there was a ring AND another rainbow thinger just above it. Could anyone explain the ring and/or the other thing?

Today was such a beautiful day! Summer is close!! Then I’ll be out and about more often with my camera! :D

Patricia Bay

Scott and I decided to do some shooting today. We went to the airport area (Patricia Bay to be exact) hoping to get some shots of some airplanes flying over, but not a whole lot happened. So instead we just hung out at the beach. Not sure if this picture worked or not. I got mixed feelings about it. The clouds were looking really nice today, so I was hoping I’d be able to make a sweet HDR picture out of it…. Comments?
