Mt Wells

Well… I’ve finally decided to hike Mt Wells. I’ve been wanting to do this hike for a while, but never got around to it because I usually end up rock climbing here. This was my first hike of the summer so I’m a little bit out of shape. Luckily this was a fairly easy hike. So I think we’re off to a good start! And of course, had to grab a couple of geocaches on the way up.

This used to be a working 44km concrete aqueduct that went from Sooke Lake to the Humpback Reservoir. Then from the reservoir it would transport the water down to Victoria. But now it’s not needed.

Rock Climbing at Mt MacDonald

On May 27, Nashira and I went for a quick climb at Mt MacDonald. It was my 2nd outdoor climb of the season, so it was great knowing that the weather is warming up. It was raining a little bit lately, but hopefully it will be a better summer than last year!

After the short trek up the mountain, Nashira realized she forgot her climbing shoes. So she had to do a few routes in her bare feet. She toughed it out!

The next two pictures are of Mt Wells. Can you spot the climbers??

Happy to be climbing!!!

The view from up top. Not bad at all.

Week 34 of HDR Project: Mt MacDonald

Nashira and I went to Mt MacDonald on Monday to do some outdoor rock climbing. So I thought this would be a rad place to take a HDR pic. So this is the view from the top of the climb! Not too bad. A nice view of Mt Wells. I’ll be posting a few more pictures soon!

More Rock Climbing At Mt Wells

After a long hike to Leechtown on Saturday, I thought it’d be a great idea to do some rock climbing at Mt Wells the next day! Yay! I’ve never been to the left side of Mt Wells, so it was a great experience. Got two more lead climbs under my belt.

The first wall we got to was the Far Far Left Wall. That’s me leading a 5.10c

The second wall we went to was the Far Left Wall. That’s me leading the 5.10b? I believe…

Week 14 – Leechtown and Mt Wells

Summer is here! Summer is here!!! There’s been quite a bit of stuff going on now that the weather is finally amazing. On Saturday, a bunch of us decided to hike to a little ghost town called Leechtown. It used to be a gold mining town, and then yeah… Ran out of gold. Anyways, access to the town has been closed off, but there’s still a few vehicle remains out there. Here’s a pic of the remains of a bus.

Then on Sunday, a few of us went rock climbing at Mt Wells. Always a great time! It feels so nice being out on the rock. This is Dion rappelling down a 5.10c route. And once again, I didn’t have a tripod with me at Mt Wells, so only 3 shots were used to make this picture.

More pics of these two events coming soon!

First Climb Of The Season!

Dion and I were talking about a rock climbing trip a few days ago, but weren’t sure of the weather. It kept changing from being cloudy and sunny to a bit of rain. We kept talking and got really psyched about it as we were both itching to go climbing! Sunday arrived and it was dry! So after I finished church, I picked up Rhiannon, Peter, and Dion, and we were off to Mt Wells! Rhiannon and Peter has never been outdoor climbing, so Dion and I taught them a bunch of stuff. It was a perfect day! I don’t know if there’s anything better than this – friends, sunny day, outdoor rock climbing, and food… That’s the life!

If felt amazing getting my first lead climb of the season under my belt. It’s definitely been WAY too long…

Rhiannon’s first outdoor climbing experience!

I ended up hanging out at the top of the route. Taking pictures and teaching people how to rappel. The legs sure go numb quickly from sitting in the harness for too long. But it was still pretty awesome.

Peter’s first outdoor rock climbing experience and rappelling!

More lead climbing!

In my mind, summer has begun… Soo keep checking back for more awesome trips!
